Indoor Cold Spark Effects

Cold Spark Hire London

Indoor-safe cold spark fountains for weddings, corporate events and private celebrations across London, Surrey and West Sussex. A stunning visual moment that photographs and films beautifully — completely safe, venue-approved and managed by our team.

The Effect That Stops the Room

Cold spark fountains — also known as cold sparklers or gerb effects — produce a stunning spray of cold sparks that looks exactly like traditional pyrotechnics but is completely safe for indoor use. The sparks are cold to the touch, produce no smoke, no heat and no fire risk, and are approved for use at most UK indoor venues.

The effect is spectacular at any event but has become one of the most requested wedding additions in recent years — particularly for first dances, cake cuttings and grand entrances. When triggered at the right moment, it is the kind of visual that fills a dancefloor instantly and creates content your guests will be sharing for weeks.

At London Event DJs, we operate cold spark machines as part of our full entertainment packages. Our team positions, programmes and triggers the effect professionally — you do not need to touch anything. We handle venue approval, safety briefing and precise timing so your moment lands exactly as planned.

Popular Uses

When to Use Cold Sparks

Cold sparks work best at a planned, timed moment. These are the most popular occasions our clients choose.

Wedding First Dance

The most popular use of cold sparks. Triggered at the peak moment of your first dance, the effect creates an extraordinary visual that photographs and films perfectly. Often combined with the Dancing on Clouds dry ice effect for the ultimate first dance moment.

Cake Cutting

Cold sparks framing the couple cutting the cake creates one of the most shared photos of the entire evening. The sparks arc over the table and the moment lasts just long enough for the photographer to capture it from multiple angles.

Grand Entrance

Position sparks either side of the room entrance and trigger as the couple or guest of honour walks in. An arresting opening to any reception or dinner that sets the energy immediately.

Corporate Award Reveal

Cold sparks are a popular addition to corporate gala dinners and award ceremonies. Triggered as each winner is announced or as the headline award is revealed, they add genuine production value to what would otherwise be a standard presentation moment.

Birthday Party Moments

Milestone birthdays are the second most popular occasion for cold sparks. Triggered for the birthday entrance, the candle-blowing moment or a big playlist drop, they guarantee a reaction and create content your guests will share immediately.

Club Night & Live Show Finales

For ticketed events, private club nights and live performances, cold sparks at a set drop or headline act finale create a concert-quality visual that elevates any event to another level entirely.

Common Questions

Cold Spark Hire — FAQs

Are cold sparks safe to use indoors?

Yes. Cold spark machines produce a pyrotechnic-style effect using a safe metal powder compound. The sparks are cold to the touch, produce no flame, no smoke and minimal residue. They are specifically designed for indoor use and do not activate sprinkler systems or fire alarms when used correctly at the manufacturer-recommended distances.

Do venues allow cold sparks?

Most UK indoor venues permit cold sparks once they have reviewed the safety information and our public liability insurance documentation. We handle the venue approval process as standard — we contact the venue in advance, provide all the necessary documentation and confirm permission before your event. We always check, and if a venue does not permit them, we will tell you in advance so you can make a different decision.

How tall do the sparks go?

The spark fountain typically reaches 2 to 4 metres in height depending on the machine setting. The height can be adjusted to suit your venue ceiling height. We assess this during our venue liaison in advance and set the machines accordingly.

How long does the effect last?

Each cold spark burst typically lasts between 30 and 90 seconds depending on the fuel load. Most clients choose a 60-second burst for a first dance moment — long enough to be spectacular, short enough to feel focused and intentional. Multiple bursts can be programmed if required.

Can cold sparks be combined with other effects?

Yes — and we recommend it. Cold sparks combined with the Dancing on Clouds dry ice effect creates one of the most visually stunning first dance moments available at any price point. The dry ice rolls low across the floor while the cold sparks fire upward — the combination is extraordinary and photographs from every angle.

Do you cover venues outside London?

Yes — we provide cold spark hire across London, Surrey, West Sussex and Kent. We cover all major towns and rural venues. Travel is included in our package quotes for events within our standard coverage area.
