Dry Ice Wedding Effect
Dancing on Clouds London
The dry ice dancing on clouds effect for weddings and events across London, Surrey and West Sussex. Low-lying fog that rolls gently across the dancefloor, creating the illusion of floating on clouds — the most requested wedding moment of recent years.
The First Dance Moment Everyone Remembers
The dancing on clouds effect uses dry ice to create a thick, low-lying white fog that rolls silently across the dancefloor at ankle to knee height. From above — and from every angle a photographer would stand — the couple appears to be floating on clouds.
It is not theatrical fog or haze. It is dense, slow-moving and stays low, which means it looks extraordinary in photographs and video while remaining easy to move through. Guests on the edge of the dancefloor see the full effect without the fog reaching them.
The effect lasts typically two to four minutes — enough to cover an entire first dance song. It is set up, monitored and cleared by our operator so the moment happens at the exact right second and the floor is clear before dancing continues.
We provide the dancing on clouds effect as part of our full entertainment packages across London, Surrey, West Sussex and Kent.

Perfect Combinations
Make the Moment Even More Spectacular
Dancing on Clouds is stunning on its own. Combined with other effects, it becomes unforgettable.
Dancing on Clouds + Cold Sparks
The ultimate first dance combination. Low-lying dry ice fog on the floor while cold spark fountains fire upward. The visual contrast — soft cloud below, brilliant sparks above — is extraordinary. The most requested upgrade we offer for weddings.
Dancing on Clouds + LED Dancefloor
The white dry ice fog floating across a starlit white LED dancefloor is one of the most beautiful things you will see at a wedding. The dancefloor lighting stays visible through the fog and the overall effect is genuinely spectacular from every angle in the room.
Dancing on Clouds + Live Sax
A live saxophonist performing during your first dance while the clouds roll in creates a cinematic, deeply personal moment. The live sound, the visual effect and the intimacy of the first dance combine into something that feels genuinely produced and utterly unique.
Common Questions
Dancing on Clouds — FAQs
How does the dancing on clouds effect work?
The effect uses dry ice — frozen carbon dioxide — combined with hot water to produce a dense, cold fog. Because the fog is heavier than air, it stays low and rolls slowly across the floor rather than rising. The result is a thick white cloud at ankle to knee height that you can walk through without it affecting your view of the room above you.
How long does it last?
A standard set produces a dense cloud for approximately two to four minutes, which is enough to cover most first dance songs. The effect gradually disperses as the dry ice is consumed. Additional bursts can be produced for a longer effect if required.
Is it cold? Is it safe to walk through?
The fog itself is cool but not uncomfortably cold to walk through. The dry ice never comes into direct contact with guests — it is contained in our machine. Walking through the fog during your first dance is completely safe and the effect is not disorienting.
Does the venue need to approve it?
Yes — we always contact the venue in advance to confirm permission and provide our insurance documentation. Most venues have no issue with the Dancing on Clouds effect as it produces no smoke, no lasting residue and does not activate fire suppression systems. We manage the approval process for you.
Can it be used on an LED dancefloor?
Yes — our LED dancefloors are sealed units and the dancing on clouds effect can be used safely on top of them. The combination of a starlit LED dancefloor with the dry ice cloud rolling across it is one of the most visually stunning wedding setups we offer.
Do you cover Surrey and West Sussex venues?
Yes — we provide the Dancing on Clouds effect at venues across London, Surrey, West Sussex and Kent. We work regularly at country house venues including The Ravenswood and Highley Manor, as well as hotel venues, barn conversions and marquee events across the region.
